Our current approach
TaxAI uses cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in, security, checkout and the workspace features you request. We do not currently enable advertising cookies, visitor analytics or session replay. There are no optional tracking categories to accept. The notice acknowledges this explanation; it is not marketing consent or acceptance of our Terms of service.
Cookies are small values sent with web requests. Local storage stays in your browser until removed; session storage normally lasts for the browser tab’s session. The inventory below distinguishes TaxAI storage from storage managed by providers. Provider cookies may vary by session, security checks and browser settings.
TaxAI storage inventory
taxai_cookie_notice — local storage, first party. Records the notice version and when you acknowledged it. We stop treating it as current after 180 days or a notice-version change, and remove an expired record when the site next loads. Your browser may retain it until that visit or until you clear site data.
billing_plan_selection — first-party cookie, up to 30 minutes. Carries your chosen plan from pricing through sign-up and is cleared after checkout is successfully created.
billing_checkout_attempt and billing_checkout_attempt_<identifier> — first-party cookies, up to 24 hours. Securely connect your browser to a pending checkout. They are HttpOnly and restricted to the checkout-context API path.
sidebar_state — first-party cookie, up to 7 days, where the collapsible sidebar is used. Remembers whether you opened or closed it.
ohmytax_active_company, ohmytax_active_billing_workspace and ohmytax_compliance_calendar_view — local storage. Remember the company, workspace and calendar view you select, until replaced or cleared.
ohmytax_custom_reminders_<companyId> — local storage. Stores reminders you create, including their titles and notes, until you delete them or clear browser data. These local reminders may be lost when you clear storage and are not a substitute for your own records.
ohmytax_checkout_billing_account, ohmytax_checkout_plan, ohmytax_firm_creation_key and ohmytax_pending_billing_invitation — session storage. Support the checkout and invitation flows you request. They are cleared by the relevant completed flow or when the browser session ends.
Authentication, payments and infrastructure
Clerk uses authentication cookies such as __session, __client and __client_uat, plus temporary handshake or security values. They maintain and protect your login. Session tokens are short-lived and refreshed during an active session; other cookie lifetimes depend on the Clerk session configuration. Blocking them can prevent sign-in.
When you open Stripe-hosted checkout or billing pages, Stripe controls its own cookies and storage. Its fraud-prevention cookies include __stripe_mid (up to one year) and __stripe_sid (about 30 minutes). Other storage depends on payment and security features. TaxAI’s notice cannot change preferences on Stripe’s domain.
Cloudflare may set security cookies when a protection or challenge requires them. Their presence and expiry depend on the protection used; they are not an analytics opt-in. Provider documentation linked below explains their current storage practices.
Your controls
Use “Cookie settings” in the footer or the link on this Cookie policy page to reopen the notice. Necessary service storage cannot be switched off by the notice. You can block or remove it in your browser’s site-data settings, but sign-in, checkout and saved preferences may stop working. Clearing site data can delete local reminders and will make the notice appear again.
We will update this policy and introduce the required choices before adding optional tracking. Optional cookies will not be activated on the basis of an old acknowledgement. Our Privacy policy explains other personal-data processing and how to contact us.
